Somalia and Djibouti joined the Arab Planning Institute Thursday (December 11th), the Kuwait News Agency reported.
The Arab Planning Institute is a regional non-profit organisation that seeks to foster economic and social development through national capacity building, research, institutional support and consultancy, expert-group meetings and publication.
With the addition of Somalia and Djibouti, the institute now comprises 19 member countries.
Somalia's Ambassador to Kuwait Abdulqadir Amin Abu Baker said Kuwait has been supportive of Somalia's endeavours in social and developmental domains.
Djibouti's Ambassador to Kuwait Mohammad Ali said his country hopes to take advantage of the economic experience of the institute's member states.
Joint action and co-operation is one of the Arab Planning Institute's main goals, said institute director Bader al-Malallah.
Kuwaiti Minister of Social Affairs and Minister of State for Planning and Development Hind al-Sabeeh said she hoped Somalia and Djibouti would benefit from the institute's expertise.
